Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
In short: KeyDate collects no personal data, makes no network connections, and communicates with no server. Everything that happens in the app stays strictly on your Mac.
🔒 No data collection
KeyDate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal or usage data. The app has no analytics mechanism, no telemetry, and no automatic error reporting.
🌐 No network connection
KeyDate operates entirely offline. It contacts no server, does not check for updates automatically, and sends no network requests under any circumstance.
💾 Locally stored data
The only data saved are your preferences (date formats, triggers, shortcuts, appearance). They are stored exclusively in your Mac's preferences folder (~/Library/Preferences/) and never leave your device.
🔑 System permissions
KeyDate may request access to:
- Accessibility — required to detect text triggers and insert the date into other applications. These keyboard events are neither recorded nor retained.
These permissions are requested only when you enable the corresponding features. You can revoke them at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
🍪 Cookies and analytics
This website (keydate.app) uses no cookies and no advertising services.
To measure site traffic, we use GoatCounter, an open-source, privacy-respecting analytics tool. Here is what it collects:
- The URL of the page visited
- The referrer (the site you came from)
- Browser and operating system (inferred from the user agent)
- Country (inferred from the IP address, which is not stored)
This data is anonymous, cannot identify you, and is never shared with third parties. GoatCounter is GDPR-compliant and requires no consent banner. Learn more: goatcounter.com/help/privacy.
👤 Third-party data
KeyDate includes no third-party SDKs, no advertising libraries, and shares no data with partners or third parties — because there is simply no data to share.
📋 Changes to this policy
Any changes to this policy will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Given that no data is collected, such changes will likely remain rare.
